Critical Thinking

High-Touch Support

High-Touch Support

The functional approach requires a commitment to finding underlying contributors to symptoms, which are unique  in each case. I work tirelessly, spending hours of research to connect the dots.

My Process

1. Thorough Investigation across all body systems. Test. Don't guess!

I facilitate you in ordering labs that you can do in the comfort of your home. Uncover imbalances across all body systems through comprehensive functional lab screenings, questionnaires, conversation, and observation. We start with blood labs. Other labs include urine, stool, or hair analysis.

2. Address Imbalances. NOT Symptoms.

Addressing symptoms only is like blaming the fireman for causing the fire, or destroying the messenger for bringing bad news. Your reasons for getting sick are unique as your fingerprint, and the reasons for your health challenges are unique to you.

Why did you become unwell or tired? What imbalances, stressors, and lifestyle factors led you here?  Discover how your imbalances interact together, affecting your whole body and impacting your health.

3. Objective data & holistic education: I teach you how to read your labs

Functional lab work is about patterns, and connecting dots. I spend many hours between sessions carefully considering nuances and overarching patterns of each lab, and then consider all the labs in conversation together.

I then teach you how to read all of your labs. You are in the driver's seat, and you will be able to uncover your own healing opportunities.

4. Better Decisions for Wellness: Advance Your Health with Personalized Research

It is urgent that you learn more about your current health state so that you can become more involved in decisions affecting your well-being.

As a thorough researcher, I will provide you the highest quality information for self-treatment options. I create personalized research for you. You have a right to access all available information to help you make decisions about your own health, life, nutrition, therapies, and wellness.

5. Restore & Thrive : An In-Depth, Whole Body Approach to Wellness

Develop an in-depth whole body protocol and make lifestyle changes that are specific to you, and what your body actually needs.

Correct course, and overcome any obstacles along the way with lifestyle coaching and full support.

Functional Labs: Measure Health instead of Disease

Finding Hidden Stressors & Imbalances

FDN practitioners uncover dysfunction and imbalances in the body.  Rather than simply chasing symptoms, an FDN-P will help you to understand why those symptoms are happening in the first place. I work tirelessly, spending hours of research to connect your functional labs, health timeline, and symptom history.

Many people come to me as a last resort. They have “tried everything” including strict diets and exercise regimens, and they are not making progress. They have also been to many doctors and have not had success. These people usually have several layers of hidden imbalances or stressors contributing to an unwanted condition or symptoms.

Nutrition and exercise are important, but they are only one part of a larger holistic picture. It is impossible to live without symptoms if hidden stressors -- like gut infections, mitochondrial dysfunction, plasmalogen deficiences, toxic metals or other toxin exposures --  remain hidden from view.  Guessing which supplements to take and what changes to make only goes so far.

Dr. Catrickes and I were introduced as she is a certified practitioner in the Prodrome Science program. I wanted to assess specific neurochemistry with a blood test they offered.  As only a practitioner could order this product, I subscribed to her packages of services. With this package, she offered several online video meetings (due to my work schedule, I could not meet in person), and numerous contacts via email. She was very familiar with functional medicine approaches and provided some very helpful and informative guidance before and after I took this blood test.

Her background in nutrition was very critical to assessing my medical situation.  As she could not prescribe medicine herself, another functional medicine practitioner was brought in to align with her plan.  As I come from a science background, I had no difficulty conversing with Alexandra and understanding many details of her advice.

I was very happy to see that her recommended supplements addressed many issues missed by my General Practitioner. She went to great depths to present numerous detailed documents on her web portal to explain aspects of the issues affecting me and advice on how to address them. Ultimately, from a nutritionist standpoint, I followed her advice and made more changes to my diet that were very positive and demonstrated effectiveness with lab tests.

I recommend Alexandra for her knowledge, ease of presenting complex data, and pleasantness to work with.

My wife was diagnosed with MS in 2004. Since that time we have tried various approaches ranging from the established medical community treatments to various holistic treatments in an attempt to arrive at improved outcomes. For the most part, since 2004, I would say she was functioning at a relatively high level. She hasn’t been 100% for a long time but for the most part still maintained reasonable function.

Shortly before Thanksgiving 2024 she experienced some seizures which proved devastating to her overall condition. Since that time she has been struggling with constant vertigo. She had extreme sensitivity to lights, sound and motion. She was not able to read, use a computer, watch TV or perform basic daily activities which so many of us take for granted. It was a triumph if I could get her to go for a short walk. This explains why I am writing this review. Functional Diagnostic Nutrition is something which our daughter has developed an interest in and she is presently pursuing study in this field.

Upon learning of the severity of her mother’s condition our daughter suggested we investigate a Functional Diagnostic Nutritional approach to her condition. She sent us a link to Alexandra Catrickes, who is a practitioner in this field. Her credentials appear to be impressive. We reached out to her and were given the opportunity to have an interview with her to see if we would be a good fit to work together. She was willing to work with us. We are forever grateful.

She asks direct questions and wants direct honest answers. She seems genuinely interested in hearing from her clients on how they feel and how they react to foods, supplements, environment and all germane factors which can have an impact on your health. She has been very honest with us that this can be a long process to untangle and address the issues the testing and the intake data reveals.

Her approach is logical and comprehensive. I would strongly encourage anyone seeking her services to be candid, open, and honest. Alexandra strikes me as a person who is completely dedicated to the idea that a functional diagnostic nutritional approach can offer improved outcomes for your health.

In just two months of working with Alexandra, my wife has already experienced improved outcomes. She still has a long way to go, and I am very glad Alexandra is on the case.

Alexandra is hard working, responsive, and kind. She has never failed to take the time to answer our questions and concerns – there have been MANY. She also shows interest in educating and sharing information. She makes an effort to leave nothing out. She CARES and has what people call the “fire in the belly” for her craft.

Alexandra strikes me as a person who relentlessly pursues truth. As sure as a compass points north – she is striving to find the truth to offer improved outcomes for her client’s health. I have little doubt Alexandra can, through her work, become a significant foundational pillar in bringing Functional Diagnostic Nutrition into mainstream medical practice.

When my mom first started with Alexandra, she was underweight and doctors wanted to put her on diabetic mediation. With Alexandra's support, her blood sugar is now normal, her blood pressure is normal, she's gained healthy weight, eats better, and feels sharper than ever and has more energy.

Alexandra is truly a blessing and an answer to a prayer -- knowledgeable, caring, and fully committed. I highly recommend her!

Alexandra suggested I start taking prodrome glia for my heart arrthymia and irregular heartbeat and it has regulated my heartbeat. I was getting attacks all the time with my heart. I couldn't breathe and my heart was pounding with pain in my chest and it made it so I haven't had any attacks now in a few weeks. Also, the blurry vision I was experiencing has gone away.

I had severe swelling in my legs. They were filling up with fluid and now there is no more fluid in my legs.  They're completely normal. I had a lot of trouble sleeping and since her recommendations, I have been sleeping better. Thank you Alexandra.

My minerals were depleted and my metabolism was impaired. Alexandra suggested a re-mineralization diet which restored minerals and metabolism. I had high mercury levels causing neuro-inflammation, and Alexandra suggested a mercury detoxing supplement which brought down the mercury to negligible levels on the re-test. We also restored energy metabolism, addressed candida, raised testosterone, gained muscle, more energy, improved tooth enamel, improved vision, and overall well-being.

I also had a "picture perfect" EKG, which hasn't been perfect in the past.

Alexandra is a must-have health practitioner. If you are thinking about it, just do it and don't look back. You won't regret investing in your health.
